Jakarta Government Eyes Middle East Market at Jordan Tourism Seminar

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) is taking an active role in the "Indonesia Tourism Seminar" hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Amman. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen tourism ties and boost international visitor arrivals, specifically from Jordan.

Jakarta’s integrated public transport system ensures a smooth and comfortable journey

The event, titled "Discover Indonesia: Jakarta & West Java Tourism Showcase 2026," highlights the premier destinations of Jakarta and West Java. It is scheduled to take place from July 19 to 23, 2026, at the Signia by Hilton Amman, Jordan.

Representing Jakarta, the Disparekraf delegation is joined by the Indonesia Inbound Tour Operators Association (IINTOA). The collaboration also features key industry players, including Marintur Indonesia, Fokus Indonesia Tours, and Nuansa Mandiri Tours, all dedicated to promoting Indonesia's diverse travel experiences.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata is confident that Jakarta will make a lasting impression in Jordan. According to Permata, this mission is a strategic milestone in introducing Jakarta’s vibrant identity to the Middle Eastern audience.

He emphasized that Jakarta currently holds a powerful competitive edge, driven by its world-class tourism infrastructure and modern, international-standard MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) facilities.

"Beyond our world-class facilities, Jakarta’s integrated public transport system ensures a smooth and comfortable journey for our Jordanian guests. We believe our unique combination of culture, world-class dining, and Muslim-friendly tourism will create a truly memorable experience," he expressed, Wednesday (7/22).

He noted that Jakarta’s participation is driven by a consistent upward trend in Jordanian visitors over the past five years. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) shows a significant increase, rising from 7,632 visitors in 2024 to 9,466 in 2025. Currently, Jordan stands as the leading contributor of tourists to Indonesia within the Levant region, outpacing Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.

As a small but high-quality emerging market, Jordan holds immense potential to diversify Indonesia’s visitor profile. Travelers from Jordan are predominantly from the middle-to-upper class, with a strong focus on honeymooners and family trips.

"To seize this opportunity, Jakarta offers a holistic travel experience—blending world-class shopping, entertainment, and cultural arts with a diverse culinary scene that prioritizes Muslim-friendly tourism," he added.

Disparekraf's Marketing Head, Lucky Wulandari is leading a high-impact mission to Jordan. She highlighted, the Jakarta-IINTOA delegation in Amman is at the forefront of the city's strategy to win over the Middle Eastern market.

The mission focuses on results, using business matching and table-top sessions to spark real, long-term B2B partnerships. The goal? To connect Jakarta’s top-tier travel operators directly with Jordan’s key industry leaders.

"We see a perfect synergy between the preferences of Jordanian travelers—who seek exclusive packages for family trips and honeymoons—and Jakarta’s premium tourism portfolio," she noted.

The seminar reaches its highlight on July 20, 2026, featuring comprehensive destination presentations by the Jakarta delegation, followed by interactive table-top sessions and a dedicated booth exhibition. To further solidify these connections, direct business matching activities will take place on July 21, 2026.

This strategic participation is designed to bolster networks with Jordanian travel agencies, hospitality leaders, and media outlets. By fostering concrete B2B collaborations and developing joint tour packages, the mission aims to cement Indonesia’s reputation as a premier, safe, and comfortable Muslim-friendly destination.
